EmTroniX: In the Heart of the Luxembourg Space Industry

Luxembourg in Space

Luxembourg’s space sector has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, positioning the country as a European leader in space innovation and technology. EmTroniX is proud to be featured at the very heart of this dynamic ecosystem on the brand-new Luxembourg Space Industry Map – a testament to our central role in redefining space communication and supporting the country’s ambitious space vision.

Luxembourg’s Space Sector: Rapid Growth and Global Impact

The Luxembourg space industry has evolved from its pioneering beginnings in 1985, with the launch of SES, to a vibrant ecosystem that now includes 111 active space and space-related organisations with a physical presence in the country as of May 2025. This impressive number reflects a steady increase of companies and research labs year over year, collectively employing well over 2,000 people.

Key factors driving this rapid growth include:

  • Strategic government initiatives: Luxembourg’s membership in the European Space Agency (ESA) since 2005, and the launch of the SpaceResources.lu initiative in 2016, have fostered innovation and international collaboration, with special focus on space resources.

  • Supportive infrastructure: The Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) and the surrounding ecosystem of 110 space-related organisations provide a robust foundation for research, development, and commercial ventures.

  • Commitment to sustainability: The national space strategy emphasizes responsible practices, including space debris mitigation and the long-term sustainability of space activities.

EmTroniX: Redefining Space Communication

EmTroniX building in Hautcharage Luxembourg

EmTroniX’s journey began in custom electronics for demanding sectors like aeronautics and automotive, but our expertise soon propelled us into the space industry. Our track record includes high-profile collaborations and innovative projects, such as the payload for the historic 4M – Manfred Memorial Moon Mission, which marked Luxembourg’s first private satellite mission around the Moon.

Today, EmTroniX stands as a key player in the Luxembourg space sector, developing advanced electronics and communication systems that power satellites, spacecraft, and next-generation space applications. Our central position on the new industry map is not just symbolic. It highlights our active role in shaping the future of European and global space technology.
